Suspected Gang Members Arrested
Wood Buffalo RCMP with assistance from the Drug Section and ALERT’s Wood Buffalo Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) have laid charges again individuals suspected to be involved with a motorcycle gang.
On the evening of June 4th, investigators with the Wood Buffalo RCMP detachment visited a residences in the Dickensfield area in Fort McMurray. Nearby residence had complained to police that they were being threatened. A few evenings earlier in the same community, the same group of people were involved in a physical altercation at a local bar. Allegedly the altercation was had between two rival motorcycle groups. The original complaint indicated that there were several individuals fighting, and that this altercation spilled-over to a neighbouring residential street. It is believed that these two incidents are related and as a result of on-going investigations charges have been laid on two individuals.
George Sutherland, a 38, and Kristian MacEachern, a 28, have both been charged with various offenses. Sutherland has been charged with two counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Death and one count of Breaching Conditions. MacEachern has been charged with Drug Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking, three counts of Breaching Conditions, Possession of Proceeds of Crime, two counts of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, and two counts of Possession of Prohibited Weapon. Sutherland has been released on bail.
